Thibaud IV, the troubadour

In the lineage of the Counts of Champagne, Thibaud IV, who was also the King of Navarre, was doubtless the most illustrious. Inspired by his cousin Blanche of Castile, mother of Saint Louis and Queen of France, with whom Thibaud was secretly in love; he composed poems and songs which earned him the nickname Thibaud the Chansonnier. The time was one of courtly poems, but this love, however platonic, nevertheless changed the destiny of the Count and perhaps,
that of the Champagne region.
